//*//August.15.2006 :: Today, I started working on updating my website...  It's not going to be a complete overhaul from the current design, but it's going to look much different from what it currently looks like.  I am keeping the color format, but one thing I am doing is re-shaping all the thumbnails on the page, but they will still follow the colors of their respective sections.  For example, all the art gallery thumbnails will follow the grayscaled look to match the gray look of that area of my page.  The thumbnails in the creative portfolio and NJCU projects sections will follow the brown tri-tone look to stay consistent with the colors of those sections.  Furthermore, the NJCU projects section is going to be cleaned up and have less text and will feature thumbnails as mentioned in the previous sentence.  I am also adding a large volume of creative work I have completed for freelance clients and from my current job (Mega Brands-Rose Art).  There will be new artwork, several illustrations I have completed, added to the gallery.  There will also be four new pages added, one of the important ones being an "about me" page.  There will also be a surprise added, something fun and useful, a large volume of original "items" that I have created, which will make up one of the new pages being added - I will say, it's sort of me, as a designer/artist giving back to both the creative and cyber community.  In the end, the website is going to be more organized, easier for me to manage and maintain (update) and everything is going to fit nicely.::

//*//August.04.2006 :: This is not design or art related news (well, art in the sence of music), but I got to finally see the Gorilla Biscuits who are doing a month long reunion tour in the U.S. and tonight at Asbury Park's Stone Pony was the first show of the tour.  It's been a really long time since I saw them (they broke up back in 1991), so I have been looking forward to the show since May when I bought the tickets.  They are a NYC hardcore-punk band that shined bright during the mid to late 80's and sounded different from other bands in the hardcore scene at the time, which resulted in a huge following and that was evident at the show tonight.  Their last album, "Start Today" on Revelation Records is still the top selling hardcore-punk album of all time.  Still to this day, there is no other hardcore band that sounds like them or even can create the intensity among the masses (crowds) like they can...  They sounded better than ever and I went nuts for them and sang so loud that my voice was ripped up the next day!  After all, they are my favorite hardcore-punk band of all time and among the bands i started listening too back then.  Seeing them again on my B-Day in September in NYC, can't wait!  Stage dives make me feel more alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.::

//*//July.15.2006 :: I did another art show at the Java Joint Cafe in Old Bridge, New Jersey...  This was the second one, with the first being back on May 13th.  I showed some of my older pieces in additon to 14 new pieces that were all done first by hand on scraps of paper then scanned in and traced and colored in Adobe Photoshop.  The show was a success with several people sending me emails about purchasing copies of the new stuff I showed.  Take a look at my new stuff.::

//*//July.05.2006 :: Received an email today from the judges at the May 1st Re-Boot Group informing me that Saturday in the Park was picked as the top website in their category for websites that represent a "non-porfit organization."  It was picked for its overall design, ease of use and clear representation of content and information and cause.  They especially commented on how I used Macromedia Flash to do a night to day sequence animation for the website introduction.  Moreoever, they liked the concept of making the interface look like a collage made of construction paper with the transparent boxes over the background allowing the overall design of the interface to show through with out distracting the user from reading the information.  Also, one of the judges referred to my transparent boxes as pieces of tissue paper, which I never thought about when I finished it.  This is the first honorable recognition for a project I designed since 2002, when I received a top award from the Webby Awards for creating the F2 Group interface.::

//*//May.22.2006 :: I got hired to work as a designer/illustrator at Megabrands America-Rose Art in Livingston, New Jersey.   The company makes toys, art supplies, stationery and other fun activities for kids.  I will be doing one of several different things there, which include designing posters, artwork for packaging and point of purchase pieces, creating logos, creative elements (small pieces of art work to be used within larger projects), icons, sell sheets, catalogs, etc.  In additon, I will also be doing concept work for textiles and girls' accessories.  So, the job mixes well with my background in both graphic design, illustration and surface_design.::

//*//May.13.2006 :: Several pieces of artwork from my art portfolio were on display at an art show held at the Java Joint Cafe in Old Bridge, New Jersey, in addition, someone purchased "Sunflowers in the Wind" at the show.  Furthermore, the other six pieces {liquidvision, an architect's dream, fire & ice, falling cubes, the hidden paradise, and looking up} at the show are now on permanment display at the coffee shop.  All of those pieces are on my website in the art gallery.::

//*//May.10.2006 :: I uploaded the re-designed website for Saturday in the Park, which has a brand new, fresh look for 2006.  Moreover, the new website gives an "in the park" look and feel with a simple ease of use and flow of information.  Also, it's the first re-design for Saturday in the Park since I started doing the website back in 1999.  The first version of the website was well recieved, but the race director wanted something new for this year's event.  I was not sure where to start with the design for the new site, but thought about making it look like a park scene.  After that, I went with creating basic shapes in Illustrator and giving it the look of a collage made with construction paper and some paint, with transparent boxes layed over the background, so that the park scene can still be viewed behind the information and the content on the website.  The race director liked the mock up I did and said it was perfect and she also liked the idea of the animated butterfly fluttering around the navigation buttons, which are shaped like flowers.::

//*//March.20.2006 :: I uploaded the re-designed website for The Belmar Five...  I only gave the website a slight face lift, but it's the same site that has been used since 2002.  The new look is better and the use of the transparent boxes allows the background artwork to be viewed through the content and informaton.  This race was one of the first road races in the tri-state area to have a website back in 1999 along with Saturday in the Park, which allowed participation to increase for both events, which represent great causes and both events give back to the running and non-running communities.::
